Silvia holds a degree in Law and studied at the universities of Vienna (AT), Leiden (NL) and the London School of Economics (UK). She embarked on her professional career as an associate and then as a lawyer for two renowned law firms in Vienna. After joining the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) in 2005, she held various positions within ÖBB such as heading the Strategic and Corporate Development at ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG. From May 2011 to July 2015, Silvia was heading the Profit Center for Long-Distance Travel where she successfully managed the transition to a competitive market.
Since 2015 Silvia is CEO of ÖBB-Postbus GmbH, Austria’s leading bus company. Postbus employs about 4,000 employees, transports around 214 million passengers per year and is actively pursuing innovative ideas: In 2018, Postbus was the first company to test a hydrogen-powered bus in Austria and successfully launched two pilots in the area of Mobility as a Service (MaaS).
